Biography

  • Pedro Kuhn (also known as Pedro Gonzalez Kuhn) is a Goya Award-winning director and producer based in Los Angeles, California. A filmmaker recognized for capturing human complexity across borders, Kuhn first gained international acclaim with his directorial debut, "The Grand Dis-Illusion" (2014). The film earned a Goya Award nomination for Best Documentary Short and was selected for over 50 international festivals.

Kuhn’s status as a formidable voice in independent cinema was solidified in 2017 as the producer of the feature documentary "Frágil Equilibrio" (Delicate Balance). After premiering at IDFA Amsterdam, the film won the Goya Award for Best Documentary and received top honors at the Seminci and Gijón Film Festivals. Its U.S. premiere was hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, marking Kuhn’s formal entry into the Los Angeles film community.

His television work includes co-directing the series "Atlánticas" (2019) for Orange TV and RTVE, featuring acclaimed Spanish actresses Leticia Dolera, Clara Lago, and Irene Escolar. While maintaining a prolific output in commercials and music videos, Kuhn is currently developing his debut narrative feature. The project has already garnered significant industry support, winning the IMCINE award for screenwriting and the SFFILM Development Grant, with the short film "Customer Service" serving as its narrative proof of concept.

Most recently, Kuhn directed four episodes of a new documentary series for Disney+, scheduled for release in Q2 2026.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Film Studies from Madrid.
