Biography

Dallas Harvey is a director, writer, and special effects artist with over 20 years of experience in the film and television industry. Working primarily in the sci-fi and horror genres, he has written and directed a range of independent projects while also building a career in special effects through his company, DHFX Studio.

He had directed and written short films Reapers (Telus Optik Network), 7 Demons (Independent), Bad Krampus (Eli Roth’s Crypt TV), and Florence (Independent), which have screened at Canadian festivals such as Screamfest Hex (Calgary & Vancouver), Heavy Hitting Horror (Whistler), Rio Grind (Vancouver), and the Bad Ass Film Festival (Vancouver).

Harvey’s new releases include The Archivists, which was accepted and screened at the prestigious Blood In The Snow Horror Film Festival in Toronto (2025), and the feature-length sci-fi body horror film Metamorphose, currently in development and recently featured article in Movie Maker Magazine.

In addition to directing and writing, Harvey is a Leo Award-nominated Special Effects Makeup Artist. His practical and digital FX work has appeared in productions such as FOX’s The Exorcist TV series, Alien: ORE (FOX), and Zombies: A Living History (History Channel). His work has also been highlighted in Make-up Artist Magazine.

Based in Vancouver, BC, Harvey operates DHFX Studio, which provides film directing, practical and CGI special effects, prop fabrication, and virtual production services for film and television.
