Ryan Estabrooks is an Emmy-winning filmmaker, musician, and photographer based in Denver and Los Angeles. Growing up in an Oklahoma City suburb, they were obsessed with comics, records, and movies. Their filmmaking journey started at age 12 when they used a small camcorder to make (ridiculous) shorts with neighborhood friends for a then-unheard of budget of $0.
They created a web series for Nickelodeon called "Super Fine Rewind" and are a head writer/director for the PBS TV show "Reconnecting Roots" (now in its 5th season). Their documentary "Assisted Stories: Nashville" premiered at the Sidewalk Film Fest.
They've produced film work for LEGO Ninjago, SYFY, Amazon, and many others. Their musical projects include collaborations with NBC, Warner Bros., and T-Mobile.
Their influences include Jean-Luc Godard, Vera Chytilova, John Cassavetes, Agnes Varda, Stanley Kubrick, Spike Lee, Dennis Hopper, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
