Josh Roush is an American filmmaker, director, writer, cinematographer, and editor based in North Hollywood, California. His work spans narrative features, documentaries, music videos, and live visual content, with much of it rooted in punk rock and independent culture.
Roush wrote and directed the feature film Wrong Reasons, a punk rock thriller about the kidnapping of a singer and the media circus that follows. The film stars Liv Banks, James Parks, Ralph Garman, David Koechner, Teresa Ruiz, and Kevin Smith. Roush also served as a cinematographer and editor on the film. Wrong Reasons was released in North America by MVD Entertainment Group and was supported by a self-produced theatrical roadshow.
He later wrote and directed Long Lonesome Highway: The Story of Michael Parks, a feature documentary about the life and career of actor and musician Michael Parks. Roush also directed Magnum Dopus: The Making of Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, the feature-length documentary chronicling the production of Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
Roush has a long-running creative relationship with Kevin Smith and has worked on a number of projects connected to Smith's films and productions.
His music work includes directing and editing videos for artists including The Aggrolites, The Specials, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Tim Armstrong, William Elliott Whitmore, The Last Gang, and others. In 2026, Roush co-directed visualizer and lyric video projects for Social Distortion with Mike Ness, including Partners in Crime and The Way Things Were, and created visual content for the band's live tour.
Roush operates through his North Hollywood production company, AntiCurrent Productions, where his work combines polished production and post-production with the DIY ethos of punk rock.
