Usher Morgan is an award-winning screenwriter, film director, and producer based in New York City. He began his creative career in the book publishing industry before transitioning into filmmaking, production, and distribution. His earliest work in film dates to (2012), when he produced the documentary The Thought Exchange, starring David Friedman and Lucie Arnaz. The project marked Morgan’s first credited role as a producer and laid the groundwork for his later move into narrative cinema.
In (2015), Morgan made his directorial debut with the award-winning short film Prego, a dark comedy that screened at numerous film festivals and helped establish his distinct visual and tonal voice. His first feature-length film, Pickings, was released in (March 2018) to critical acclaim and received a limited theatrical run via AMC Independent. Blending elements of film noir and spaghetti westerns, Pickings was praised for its bold, unconventional storytelling and stylized visuals, leading the Los Angeles Times to recognize Morgan as "a talent to watch."
In (2023), Morgan completed his second feature film, Plucked, a dark comedy co-written, co-produced, and co-directed with Katie Vincent. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in (2026) and continues Morgan’s exploration of surreal, morally complex human behavior. His third feature, Anna’s in the Woods, was filmed in (2024), entered post-production in (2025), and is planned for festival exhibition prior to its anticipated release in (2027).
