Biography

Nikki Shiels is a multi-award winning Australian actress whose career spans screen and stage including leading roles with all of Australia’s major theatre companies.

In television, Nikki most recently appeared as "Chelsea" opposite creator and star duo Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall in the third and final season of their Internationally acclaimed Australian comedy, COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS. Other recent television credits include "Deborrah" opposite Teresa Palmer in THE LAST ANNIVERSARY based on the novel by Liane Moriarty and directed by John Polson, BBC One/Stan Original series TEN POUND POMS S1 & S2, THE NEWSREADER S2 for the ABC and the original drama series PROSPER for Lionsgate & Stan.

In 2025 Nikki played the role of "Deb" opposite Guy Pearce in Charles Williams’ feature film INSIDE. Nikki also played the role of "Janie" alongside Charlotte Rampling and Judy Davis in the feature film THE EYE OF THE STORM directed by Fred Schepisi.

At the 2025 Time Out Arts and Culture Awards, Nikki received the Critics Choice Award for Best Performance in a Play for her performance as "Blanche DuBois" in the Tennessee Williams classic A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE for Melbourne Theatre Company. Prior to this Nikki starred as "Sunday Reed" in Melbourne Theatre Company's highly-acclaimed production of SUNDAY. A selection of other recent theatre credits include: REBECCA (MTC), GIRLS AND BOYS (MTC), THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY (STC), MY BRILLIANT CAREER (Belvoir), HOME, I'M DARLING (MTC), and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF (STC).

Nikki won the 2020 Green Room Award for her performance as Judy Martin in HOME, I'M DARLING and the 2023 Gloria Payten and Gloria Dawn Fellowship for her contribution to the Australian Acting Industry, intended for outstanding mid-career artists to engage in artistic collaboration and further training abroad.
