Joy Marzec
The third annual meeting of the Second Amendment Sisters: Pennsylvania chapter is underway with its President, Bobbi Czajkowski, initiating new members. After a day of training, the sisters gather around the bonfire at night to discuss why they carry a gun. From domestic violence to mistrusting the government to impending environmental catastrophe, the reasons are many, but the intention, only one: safety. Bobbi excuses herself from the group to go pee in the woods. Alone in the dark, she is gripped by a primal fear, and reaches for her trusted gun.

Joy Marzec is a writer, director, and producer whose work consistently explores characters on spiritual quests. She has directed and produced several short films internationally in India, France, and the United States. Her first feature, I Am That, won Best New Mexico Feature Film at the Santa Fe International Film Festival and is available in the US and the UK on platforms like Amazon Prime, Tubi, and DirecTV.

Joy's latest project, Eclipse of the Holy Fool, continues her signature exploration of spiritual themes. The thriller follows an ex-convict with a violent past attempting to walk a path of peace, facing a final test: she has just twenty-four hours to unite a politically divided neighborhood before it erupts into violence.

Before filmmaking, Joy had an extensive background in theater, adapting and directing works like Siddhartha and A Brave New World for the stage. She earned a degree in Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle before relocating to Philadelphia.

In 2007, Joy began experimenting with screenwriting and directing, discovering an unexpected passion for every stage of filmmaking-from writing and financing to producing, directing, and editing. She has independently raised funding for all of her films by co-owning a production company specializing in Ashtanga yoga, through which she has produced video courses, world tours, and five books.

Joy thrives on deep collaboration, working with the same designers and actors across multiple films to cultivate a strong creative shorthand. Her brother, Mitch Marzec, has composed the music for all of her films.

Joy Marzec remains dedicated to creating bold, thought-provoking cinema that merges spirituality and storytelling with a distinct artistic vision.
