- Peyton, a long coat deer head chihuahua, was born October 26, 2009 in Nova Scotia Canada. When she was a puppy her owners assumed she was a very heavy sleeper, until one morning the smoke alarm went off and Peyton remained fast asleep. After a visit to the vet it was confirmed she was completely deaf.
From a young age she was trained using American Sign Language and today has impressive vocabulary recognition abilities. Her disability turned out to be a great advantage as she is unable to hear many of the sounds that can be distracting (or even scary) to dogs who work on movie sets.
