Biography

Colton Bose is an American director, screenwriter and editor. Born and raised in the suburbs of Ohio, Bose spent most of his childhood playing video games, reading comic books and watching endless hours of animation. While Bose has loved movies since he was a child, it was seeing Goodfellas (1990) and Taxi Driver (1976) at age 13 that inspired him to become a film director. Bose spent the remainder of his teenage years obsessively watching films from all throughout history, becoming especially fond of (and influenced by) 1960s European cinema, 1990s American independent cinema and silent cinema. It was during this time that Bose also discovered his passion for writing. He completed his first feature length screenplay at age 16, and frequently wrote poetry and short stories as way of relieving anxiety and relating to the world around him. He received his first digital video camera as a Christmas present at age 17 and immediately began making short films and music videos. Due to a lack of technical experience and a fascination with avant-garde art, most of Bose's early shorts are highly experimental in nature. Bose enrolled in the Film/Digital Media program at Cleveland State University after graduating high school, and spent the next few years working on numerous projects inside and outside of class. Bose met and befriended Noah Kemp while making a music video for Kemp's previous band, and the two have been collaborating on projects ever since. They founded the independent film company Rooster Crow Productions in 2013 and have a similar operating method to the Coen Brothers (with Bose directing, Kemp producing and both sharing writing credits). Since graduating from Cleveland State, Bose has spent his time creating narrative projects for Rooster Crow, doing various freelance work and continuing to watch an obsessive amount of films.
