An Egyptian writer, director, and film critic. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1958, then began his writing career in 1966, by preparing programs and writing for radio drama, then turning to cinema. In 1971, he obtained postgraduate studies in screenwriting and directing from the Higher Institute of Cinema in Cairo. His writing debut was adapting the novel "We Don't Sow the Thorns" into a film in 1970. He wrote a number of film and TV scripts.
