Biography

  • Nizar Wattad is an Arab American writer and producer, raised in East Tennessee.

This follows Nizar serving as Executive Consultant on the series Asphalt for Netflix and Telfaz. He also wrote three episodes of the Netflix series Jinn.

In the feature arena, Nizar previously set up the script The Ghul with Bob Shaye's Unique Features after doing character consultation work on the film The 355 directly for actress Lupita Nyong'o. As a frequent collaborator of Golden Globe and Oscar nominated director Hany Abu-Assad, Nizar has done uncredited polishes on his films The Vanished (Focus), and 11 Minutes (New Line) and Omar (ZBROS). His script Streets Have No Name previously made the Black List. Nizar previously wrote Disney's first Arabic feature co-production called The United as well as the studio's first Russian co-production.

Nizar created the story for iOS game Tribal Rivals, which debuted at #1 in the App Store upon launch and has also collaborated on an interactive multimedia story installation with Detroit art collective Complex Movements. His work has been selected for the Sundance Institute/RAWI Screenwriter's Lab, the Dubai Film Connection, and the Sundance Producers Summit.
