Trivia

Azhar Khan

  • His great uncle was the award-winning Indian film actor, screenwriter, producer, and activist Dilip Kumar (born Muhammad Yusuf Khan).
  • Collects books, zines, ephemera, and esoterica on stage magic, mentalism, occultism, and magick.
  • His ability to seamlessly cycle through countless dialects and character voices at will was initially born out of a boyhood obsession with Looney Tunes and its longtime, lone voice actor Mel Blanc.
  • A self-taught guitarist with a penchant for obsessive study who heavily modifies his guitars, Khan is influenced by jazz, world music, noise, the avant-garde, and various esoteric traditions. He also utilizes modular synthesizers, prepared guitars, constructed instruments, and various electronics.
  • Khan is a longtime, avid skateboarder heavily influenced by 80s transition & curb skating. He favors extremely wide, shaped boards with 8 wheels and four trucks, inspired by Lonnie Toft & made by GGI Skates / Sun Robotics.
  • He is frequent collaborator of playwright / screenwriter Josh Koenigsberg and filmmaker Henry Joost, both of whom he has known since high school.
  • He performs magic, mentalism, puppetry, creates video installations, and plays heavily modified, customized guitars and various electronics in his multimedia one-man-show, Wolfman Of Burst City.
  • Collects dead media (VHS tapes, audio cassettes) & analog technology (CRT-TVs, VHS camcorders, analog & modular synthesizers) for ongoing work related to personal, creative projects & installation art pieces.
