Biography

Mishki is a dual Canadian/American writer and director. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Mishki has a B.A. in Cultural Studies (shout out, Foucault!) from McGill University and a M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California (shout out palm trees!). She worked as an entertainment journalist covering arts and culture, including TIFF and NXNE, at Toronto Life magazine before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of writing for film and television. There, Mishki worked in feature film development at Simon Kinberg's Genre Films (X-Men, Deadpool, The Martian) and television development and production at Jason Winer's Small Dog Picture Company (Modern Family, Single Parents, Perfect Harmony). Mishki wrote and produced the interactive, choose-your-own-adventure pilot, I'm F.I.N.E. (Fucked Up, Insecure, Neurotic & Emotional), with New Form Digital and EKO Interactive as well as the season finale of the NBC sitcom, Perfect Harmony, created by Lesley Wake Webster. She's pitched television shows to major networks and streamers and her feature film script, #FreeBritney, won Script Pipeline's Screenwriting Competition in 2022. In 2023, Mishki wrote and directed her first short film, Bardo, with the support of OPC in Toronto. Since then, Bardo has screened at many festivals and won Best Narrative Short at the Art Film Spirit Awards in 2024. From a young age, Mishki understood the cathartic nature of storytelling and the power of owning your voice. Mishki writes dark comedies about imperfect women exploring the deep fears and dilemmas of the human experience. She thinks of screenwriting as "good magic," accidentally has two dogs (it's a whole story) and will absolutely read your astrology chart.
