Larry Hoppen is the co-founder of the classic American band Orleans. Tens of millions know Larry's uplifting tenor from the hits "Still the One", "Dance with Me" and "Love Takes Time", among others.

From a musical family, Larry is equally at home on keyboards or guitar and is fluent on bass, melodica and trumpet. His mom took him on her nightclub gigs when he was 10! Briefly trying Music Ed. at Ithaca College (1967-69), he left to pursue a career as a musical artist and has never looked back. Between 1969 and 1971 his Ithaca band Boffalongo made 2 LPs for United Artists Records, including the original recording of "Dancin' in the Moonlight", later a hit by friends King Harvest. Soon after Boffalongo disbanded (1971), Larry got a call from John Hall (later to become a US Representative from New York) to come to Woodstock, NY, to form a band with the late Wells Kelly and John. Decades later, Orleans still tours / records with 2 of the 4 originals - Larry and brother Lance Hoppen.

Larry has performed and recorded with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Livingston Taylor, Lulu, Graham Parker, Blues Traveler, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Michael Franks, Levon Helm, Michael Brecker, Chet Atkins, Artie Traum, John Sebastian, Bela Fleck and many more notable artists.

Co-founder / lead singer of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm2541082/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Orleans</a>.

Brother of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm4562287/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Lance Hoppen</a>.

Hoppen suffered from depression most of his life and committed suicide, a fact later confirmed in Orleans founding member <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0355747/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">John Hall</a>&#39;s autobiography, Still The One: A Rock&#39;n&#39;Roll Journey to Congress and Back.
