Biography

Tyler Piña is a screenwriter, Emmy Award-winning director, and founder of Neon Flamingo Films, a full-service production company based in Los Angeles. With over 15 years of experience in the storytelling world, he has worked with several major studios, including Netflix, Disney, Amazon, and Hulu, on many of their most acclaimed projects, such as Marvel's Thunderbolts, Avatar: The Way of Water, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and Emilia Pérez, the most Oscar-nominated film of 2025.

Passionate about telling stories that connect people, lift society, and amplify underrepresented voices, Tyler launched his directing career at just 20 years old with his first internationally distributed feature film. Later, his short 88 Cents, which he wrote and directed, played at Cannes in 2018 and screened at over 70 international film festivals. It has since won 67 awards, including 16 for Best Director, 7 for Best Screenplay, and 17 for Best Short Film. That same year, Tyler won his first Emmy Award and earned an additional Emmy nomination as the series director for the show Next Level.

Before transitioning into narrative fiction, Tyler spent several years in journalism, working at The Verge and Vox Media. With Avid, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Creative Suite certifications, Tyler also has extensive editing experience and a vast portfolio of work. Most recently, Tyler has been nominated for a 2025 Golden Trailer Award, up against titles such as Wicked and How to Train Your Dragon. Tyler has also received multiple Telly and CINDY Awards for his music video, documentary, and commercial work, producing branded content for various Fortune 500 companies including Google, Facebook, Levi's, Apple, Global Ports Holding, and Verizon.
