Saxophonist with the Gene Krupa Orchestra who formed his own bebop-oriented big band in 1946, featuring arrangements by Neal Hefti. The band was short-lived, however, and Ventura eventually opened a jazz club in New Jersey, as well as fronting various orchestras in Atlantic City and a swinging quartet in Springfield, Massachusetts.
