  • Jimmy Brooks is a versatile actor and mover of West African beginnings with a rich foundation in theatre and physical storytelling. Now entering an exciting new chapter, he is expanding his creative expression through the exploration and development of his musical artistry.

    Brooks spent much of his childhood moving between Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire before relocating to the United States at age twelve-an upbringing that shaped his adaptability, cultural fluency, and dynamic presence on stage and screen.

    In New York City, he made his Off-Broadway debut in the NYC production of Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange hailed as "disturbing, stylish, and sexy." He went on to originate a lead role in the provocative Off-Broadway play safeword., and later appeared in the epic African saga Bayano at the National Black Theatre.

    His feature film debut as Yenny in the slow-burn thriller Bwoy, opposite Anthony Rapp, earned critical acclaim. On television, he has shared the screen with acclaimed talents such as Thea Leoni in Madam Secretary, Jennifer Beals in Law & Order: Organized Crime, and 50 Cent in Power. He also received the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2012 A.C. Cinefest for his role in the short film Curveball.

    Brooks is an alumnus of Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a BFA in Drama and a BA in Mathematics.
