Hailing from Bray, Ireland, Paul Neary has spent a lifetime as a student and lover of film. A typically bold, unplanned, decision to move to Canada provided him the opportunity to study every aspect of filmmaking both in front of and behind the camera before developing the documentary TV series 'Merchants of the Wild'.
His works are personal and complex, with subjects ranging across a broad spectrum, and often with few answers to probing questions. Nonetheless he keeps asking and exploring, knowing the medium of film and television has the power, quality, and scope to allow for excitement and insight alike.
Ultimately he wants to entertain. It is not a question of intellectual and boring versus spectacular and soulless for this director. There is only what works, and that is, and always will be, connecting to an audience and bringing them into a new world for a moment in their lives. Creating images that do what they are suppose to; make us laugh, cry, or think and, always, to share an idea.
Paul Neary lives and works in Toronto, Canada in the TV, film, photography, and entertainment industries. He has written two self-published novels and is working on a third alongside his role as screenwriter on two upcoming feature films slated for production in 2026.
