Biography

Ian Chisholm

Mini bio

  • Ian Chisholm was born in Huntingdon in England. He grew up slowly migrating eastwards as his parents changed jobs and moved house, settling in a small village named Weeting. Once old enough, he moved to the city of Norwich to start a career in Information Technology.

Always a creative person, Ian came in relatively late to film work, working with the Machinima format as a creative outlet. After realising he could combine two game engines, using compositing and chroma-keying, to harness the visuals of Eve Online and the face and body animations of Half Life 2, Ian decided to try his hand in 2006 at producing a pilot-format show, based in the universe of Eve, called Clear Skies.

While this was ostensibly just a creative outlet and some fun for him and his friends, when finally completed in 2008 the response in the Eve community and beyond was staggering. This almost immediately prompted him to work on a sequel, which was also very well received by the same audience when released in 2009. Both films went on to become legends in the Eve universe and won several awards, including the 2008 New York Machinima long format award.

In late 2009, access to some major technical leaps forward prompted Ian to work on a third film in the series, and a fortuitous encounter at a Veronica Mars convention lead to the engagement of Francis Capra as a lead character. Ricky Grove also enthusiastically took a lead role after following the series and being a fan of Ians work since the first film.

The third film was released in 2011, twice as long as the other two and finished to a much higher standard. Based on the success of the third film, the experience from directing professional actors, and the knowledge gained from seeing a production all the way from script to post production, Ian is focusing his efforts on writing scripts and screenplays for the pro market as of mid 2011.

  • After writing the screenplay for a low budget horror film, Ian decided to go ahead and produce it as a feature length animation. Starting in 2013, and using the latest consumer level motion capture system for every action onscreen, this took almost five years to produce. Part of this protracted production schedule was due to having two children join his family in that period. Ticket Zer0 was released in July 2018, much to Ian's relief. He is now definitely concentrating on screenplay writing and voice acting.
