Francisca Braithwaite is a Chilean-born Australian actor, writer, director and producer, and an Australian Academy (AACTA) Award winner.
As an actor, Francisca has appeared in a range of Australian television productions including the acclaimed dramas A Place to Call Home, Home and Away, Hyde & Seek and Reckoning. She also received praise for her portrayal of Dr Celest Navarro in the stage production The GOD Committee, which played to sold-out audiences throughout its season.
Francisca stars in the (AACTA) Award-winning short film Finding Addison, and the Screen Producers Award nominated Safe Haven, both of which she also wrote, directed and produced, continuing her commitment to developing and performing in emotionally resonant, character-driven stories.
A Meisner-trained actor, Francisca has studied with internationally renowned acting coaches Ivana Chubbuck, Howard Fine and Lisa Robertson.
Alongside her acting career, Francisca is an accomplished filmmaker. Finding Addison won the 2024 (AACTA) Award for Best Short Film and was selected for the prestigious Les Nuits en Or program by the French Academy of Cinema. The film was also nominated for Short Film Production of the Year at the 2025 Screen Producers Australia Awards and was nominated for a 2025 Casting Guild Award.
In 2020, Francisca founded Blue Sparrow Entertainment, a female-led production company dedicated to creating distinctive stories with global appeal. Through Blue Sparrow, she develops and produces premium screen projects while championing bold voices and meaningful storytelling.
Francisca holds a Master of Screen Business from AFTRS and was selected for the 2025 Screen NSW Emerging Producer Placement. She currently works as a Development Producer at BBC Studios Australia while continuing to build her career across acting, writing, directing and producing.
