Alejandra López

Mini bio

  • Born and raised in Puerto Rico, a commonwealth of the United States, Alejandra's voice fuses intimate human stakes with systemic oppression. Her short film "The Blue Cape", which she wrote and directed, has screened at ten Oscar® qualifying film festivals. Alejandra became the first Latina to direct for Marvel Entertainment and has also directed Bad Bunny for W Magazine. She recently shadowed DGA Past President and Emmy®-nominated director Lesli Linka Glatter on "Imperfect Women" and served as an Observing Director on "9-1-1" and "Power: Origins". An avid traveler herself, Alejandra has visited over thirty countries in four continents, including war zones.

Alejandra has been selected for the Warner Brother's Discovery Access Director's Program, the Ryan Murphy Half Initiative, the Women In Film Directing Fellowship, and the Alliance of Women Directors #MentorLatinaDirectors Fellowship. As a writer, she's been staffed on Sony Pictures Television's "Startup", participated on the Starz #TakeTheLead Writers' Intensive and Rideback Rise Circle, and was a fellow at the Sundance Institute Episodic Intensive and Cultural Impact Residency. She's currently in post-production for two proof of concepts, financed by Dirty Films, Cate Blanchett's production company, with Netflix and Top Dawg Entertainment Films. Through the Disney Entertainment Television Directing Program, Alejandra will become the first Puerto Rican to direct the longest-running American scripted drama: "General Hospital". Based in LA, her pantry is stocked with rice and beans.
