Matthew David King was born in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and holds dual Canadian and American citizenship. A former Army medic and peace officer, he returned to performing and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York in 2011, where his stage roles included Eddie in Sam Shepard's Fool for Love and Roo Webber in Ray Lawler's Summer of the Seventeenth Doll.
On screen Matthew played the title role in The Life and Death of Tommy Chaos and Stacey Danger (2014) and Jack in There's Something in the Trunk (2018), and in Los Angeles he originated a role in Coin & Ghost's Mama Mama Can't You See. He co-directed the feature documentary Project 22 (2015), which aired on PBS.
Matthew holds a BA in Psychology and earned his MFA in Writing and Contemporary Media in 2019. He works as an actor, screenwriter, and creative technologist in Los Angeles.
