  • May’s background in interdisciplinary art, theatre design and socially engaged filmmaking projects all influence her world building process for narrative and her approach to creating and leading a team.

    Recent feature films include Rebekah Fortune’s, Learning to Breathe Under Water (in post), and Elizabeth Sankey’s latest feature doc, Witches, BIFA Best Documentary 2024 Winner and British Film Designer’s Guild award winner 2025, premiered at Tribeca Festival 2024 and released on MUBI.

    Having worked up through the art department, May has managed large budgets, set builds, major location adaptations and teams as a supervising art director. Art direction credits for feature film and TV drama include Kevin Macdonald’s The Runner (2026) , Black Mirror S7 - ‘Plaything’ (2024) and Landscapers (2021) which won a TV BAFTA for best production design.

    May is committed to sharing her craft, building a community and encouraging new faces into the industry. She mentors for BFI Film Academy, UAL and BAFTA, and co-organises and participates in events with the British Film Designers Guild, The Production Designer’s Collective and the Society of British Theatre Designers.

    May is London based with British, German and Australian citizenship.
