  • André Guiomar (1988) is a producer and director living in Portugal and a founding partner of "Olhar de Ulisses" production company. Since 2022 he is a Berlinale Talent and in 2023 he premiered his new short film "Thorn" co-directed with Mya Kaplan at the Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight, involved in The Factory program. In 2022 he co-directed "Saturn" with Luís Costa, a film that had its international premiere at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. His first feature-length documentary "Our Land, Our Altar" (2020) had its world premiere at the Sheffield Doc/Fest, won the Youth Jury Award at the ZINEBI Festival and the Emerging Director Award at the Porto/Post/Doc. The film had theatrical distribution for 10 weeks. In 2018 he directed the short documentary "Skin of Light", winner of the Doclisboa Jury Prize. He also directed "Python", winner of several international awards, and worked on the image and editing for Gonçalo Tocha's "A Mãe e o Mar" (2013), winner of the national DocLisboa award in 2014 and winner of best editing at Cineport. Also as an editor, his work on the fiction feature "Mabata Bata" (2017) by Sol de Carvalho stands out, for which he received a distinction for best editing at the Ouagadougou Panafrican Film and Television Festival. He has produced several films that have premiered at international festivals such as Berlinale, Cairo IFF, Clermont-Ferrand, Go Shorts, Vienna Shorts, with theatrical distribution and sales to television and VoD services.
