Biography

Anna Próchniak is a Polish actress trained at the Łódź Film School. She began her artistic path in ballet and contemporary dance before transitioning to theatre and screen acting.

She made her screen debut in Shameless (dir. Filip Marczewski), which premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (2012). She first gained wider recognition with Warsaw 44 (dir. Jan Komasa) and has since worked across European and international film and television productions.

Her theatre work includes her stage debut in Natasha’s Dream at Teatr Powszechny in Warsaw, which brought early international festival recognition and international awards.

International credits include Anne Fontaine’s Les Innocents (Sundance 2016), Chris Baugh’s Bad Day for the Cut (Sundance 2017), the Icelandic feature Vultures (dir. Börkur Sigþórsson), and Unmoored (BFI London Film Festival 2023). On television, she has appeared in the BBC series Baptiste and Showtrial, and Oleg premiered in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight (2019).

Most recently, she leads the SKY/Peacock series The Tattooist of Auschwitz, for which she received a 2024 C21 Drama Award nomination. Upcoming projects include Channel 4’s Summerwater, The Duel (Pojedynek), and Xavier Giannoli’s Des Rayons et des Ombres (2026), opposite Jean Dujardin.

She is a member of the European Film Academy (EFA).
