Chris Joecken is a filmmaker, educator, writer, and photographer.
As a filmmaker, writer, and photographer, Chris strives to tell stories that reflect aspects of the human condition in an honest light. His creative work has been featured in film journals, it has screened at domestic and international film festivals, and it has received numerous accolades.
As a college educator, Chris enjoys sharing professional experience and industry knowledge with students. For more than a decade, Chris has taught classes focusing on cinematography, single camera production, editorial, color grading, motion graphics, and storytelling. Regardless of subject matter, Chris believes his teaching methodology prompts critical thinking in students as they develop their own creative voices.
As a working freelancer, Chris has fifteen years of professional experience. He has collaborated on hundreds of projects ranging from broadcast commercials to feature length narrative films. Chris has worked for a comprehensive list of clients that include Apple TV+, PBS, Proctor and Gamble, VisionWorks, Folgers, Tempur-Pedic, Western and Southern, and Illumina.
Chris completed his Master in Fine Arts (MFA) degree with a split focus of documentary filmmaking and photojournalism at Ohio University.
