Hakim Zziwa

Hakim Zziwa is a Ugandan-born director and cinematographer with a deep rooted passion for visual storytelling. His creative journey began in performance, where his background as a dance artist shaped his sensitivity to movement, rhythm, and emotion. This foundation naturally evolved into directing concept-driven dance films, allowing him to explore storytelling through imagery before transitioning into narrative and documentary work. As his practice expanded, Hakim gravitated toward stories that blend cinematic style with grounded realism. He has directed and shot narrative films, action driven proof of concept projects, and intimate documentary work, drawing heavily from cinema vérité techniques to create authentic, emotionally resonant visuals. Today, Hakim collaborates closely with directors, producers, and creative teams to bring stories to life with clarity and intention. His commitment to excellence, combined with his ability to adapt to the demands of different genres, has enabled him to work locally and internationally.
