He had taken drama classes at the University of the Redlands in California; the Hollings School of Theatre in San Francisco, and Seattle Repertory in Seattle,. He went to New York City. He was accepted into Erwin Friedrich Max Piscator's famed Drama Workshop with Tony Curtis, Bea Arthur, Harry Belafonte, Harry Guardino and twenty others.
  • Graduated as an Ensign in Navy Training School and was one of the first assigned officers to set foot in occupied Japan at the end of World War II.
  • Received a bronze star with his name and signature on Main Street in Lexington, KY, for his contributions to theatre.
