Craig Melvin was born on May 20, 1979 in Columbia, South Carolina, USA. He is an actor and writer, known for The Event (2010), Dig (2015) and MSNBC Live with Craig Melvin (2016). He has been married to Lindsay Czarniak since October 15, 2011. They have two children.

Graduated from Wofford College, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in 2001.

Hosts the Colon Cancer Foundation's Blue Hope Bash annual fundraiser every year in honor of his older brother Lawrence who died from the disease on December 9, 2020.

Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Has 2 children with his wife Lindsay Czarniak: a son Delano Joseph Melvin (born March 10, 2014) and a daughter Sybil Ann Melvin (born November 5, 2016).
