Murray Handwerker was born on 25 June 1921 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. He was married to Dorothy. He died on 14 May 2011 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA.
His father, Nathan, opened Nathan's Famous hot dog stand on Coney Island in 1916. After turning Nathan's Famous into a national he sold the company in 1987.
