Jo Lane is a Manchester based Writer/Director known for her short films 'Time Goes Nowhere' (2009), 'Bored Games (2011), 'My dad's bigger than your dad' (2016), 'How not to meditate' (2018), 'A Minute's Silence (2019) and 'Unsettled' (2020). Jo is also a Camera Operator known for 'Choke' (2019) directed by Helen Lyons Curran.

Jo is a Manchester based Writer / Director. Her background is as a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for collaboration across art forms and her work spans sculptural installations, Theatre and Film. Her first film, Time Goes Nowhere (2009), funded by NW Vision, was accepted onto the BBC Film Network. Jo went on to write and direct her second short, Bored Games (2011), which screened at the London Short Film Festival and became part of their ‘strong female characters’ section in partnership with Underwire. Her short films have screened nationally & internationally including BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festivals. Her short film Gobstopper screened at Aesthetica and was selected by Prano Bailey-Bond as part of Centerframe Top 5 Selects and is screening on Omeleto’s Drama Channel where it has received great acclaim. Gobstopper has won multiple awards for Best Northern Film (North West Independent Film Festival) Best Young Actor (Wolverhampton Film Festival) Best Ensemble Cast (Women X) and has received multiple nominations for other categories. Jo writes about characters who dance on the edge of what society perceives as acceptable.
