Biography

Alex Gilbert is a Russian-born, New Zealand-based documentary series producer, writer, and media presenter, with a focus on adoption.

In 2015, he founded I'm Adopted, a support network for adoptees. Alex has been recognised for his work in adoption, earning nominations for several awards, including Young New Zealander of the Year in 2018 and New Zealander of the Year in 2020.

He regularly shares his own adoption story through his YouTube channel, where he also publishes his An Adoption Story documentary series, featuring the stories of other adoptees.

Alex Gilbert was born in Russia in a small town called "Arkhangelsk".

Alex Gilbert is known for his work with adoptions and founded the I'm Adopted project in 2015.

Alex Gilbert got in contact with his birth parents in Russia for the first time in 2013. This was then followed by a NZ TV Documentary. He also self-released his own book called 'My Russian Side' on his story in April 2014.
