Biography

Martin is a writer, filmmaker, actor and obsessive-compulsive who mucks around across the page, stage and screen.

His flagship comedy series Pink Elephants (previously known as Disorderly) was developed through Screen Queensland and among other accolades was an international finalist for the prestigious ScreenCraft Fellowship. His other writing has been published in The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, ABC News Online, and his satire in The Chaser and The Shovel.

Martin received significant acclaim after being featured in the OCD episode of the ABC’s You Can't Ask That, and plays the lead role (opposite a plush toy dinosaur) in Screen Australia-funded series about OCD, Plushed. He also produced, adapted and starred in immersive rock Shakespeare Much Ado in 2018, because life’s too short. A mainstage version of the show is in further development now with You Am I frontman Tim Rogers.

Of course back in 2016 he travelled the USA with The Chaser reporting on the totally sane and dull process that was the 2016 presidential election. That same year he developed live comedy pilot Pillow Talk with Screen Queensland/ABC iview, which he was also supported to take to market at MIPTV Cannes.

Oh! He’s also published in a couple of books, like made of real paper! He's one of five authors of Try Not To Think Of A Pink Elephat with Fremantle Press, and is among Kristen Dunphy, Grace Tame, Steven Oliver and others featured in mental health anthology Admissions from Upswell Publishing.
