- Jesse Judy is an American actor, director, cinematographer, screenwriter, and producer, known for his work in commercial, television, and film... but that's not the end of the story.
Jesse began his career by shooting short films on his childhood farm in Columbia, Missouri. After studying Mythology & Folklore at Columbia University, attending AMDA NYC's musical theater & acting conservatory, and earning a BFA in Screenwriting from the New School University, Jesse took opportunities to work New York Fashion Week as a camera assistant, eventually working his way up to camera operator for fashion giants Donna Karan and Rag & Bone. Jesse continued to work on film sets in Atlanta, Houston, and New Mexico during the film production tax boom of the 2010's, while gaining the knowledge and skills to produce the stories he desired to tell. In 2013, he returned to New York to expand his library of screenplays and create Genesius Studios with his brother, Ori Markson, and long-time collaborator and dear friend, Brandon Martin. Together with Martin and Markson, he built Genesius Studios into an end-to-end production company specializing in crafting a cinematic approach for brands and businesses, where he shot for Adidas, Post-it, and many short films such as T-County (2014), The Original Law (2015), then leading him to his directorial and writing debut of the time-travel western, The Rider (2016). In 2021, with the onset of Covid and the pandemic, Genesius Studios closed their doors for the last time. With dwindling clients in sight and industry uncertainty weighing on their shoulders, Jesse story-boarded one last film to pitch to Martin, Markson, and fellow investors and producers in a last ditch effort to keep the band together.
What resulted was a new chapter in his career.
Martin and Markson flipped through Jesse's storyboards and saw a new opportunity. Here it was - a complete visual story without ever talking about hiring crew, putting up a set, or getting a committee of producers involved.
Arcpunk Comics was born.
Now, Jesse Judy, Founder of Arcpunk Comics and Mangaka of Ashes Of Eden, is an author, illustrator, and publisher of epic sci-fi, fantasy manga, and comics. His BFA in Screenwriting and almost 20 years in film production see Jesse crafting works that weave ancient Mythology, futurism, and hidden knowledge through his renegade indie publishing house, Arcpunk Comics. Here, he takes readers into strange and whimsical worlds that live just next to the mundane to inspire hope and optimism in unlikely places, and ultimately aim to unearth the magic hiding in plain sight in our every-day lives.
Jesse also teaches Media Literacy, Film Production in NYC and Jersey City, merging storytelling and technology to impart media literacy across the 5 boroughs. When he isn't drawing comics, teaching, or uncovering the secrets of Atlantis, Jesse enjoys a quiet night off with a good book, drinking way too much jasmine tea, the sunny sea-breeze of a beach day or a snowy trek through a blizzard, and he'll always boot up a copy of Mega Man Legends before even his favorite next-gen titles. One day he hopes to live abroad in a hidden villa and spend his days communing with his ancestors over some strong tea. He'll also still be drawing anime and manga.
His ongoing manga series, Ashes Of Eden, can be found on Kickstarter as a winner of the Kickstarter "Projects We Love" Award, as well as future titles that were once penned to be films. More of Jesse's film and publishing work is stirring and on the way. I'm sure he can't wait for you to see it.
