Joana's father died in the crash accident when she was only 10 years old. Joana's mother raised her and her younger brother Ivan in Novi Sad, Serbia. Before Joana became an actress she was a professional handball player.. Joana graduated from Academy Of Performing Arts, Belgrade in 2010 (BFA) and California Institute of The Arts in 2018 (MFA).
