Scobie Breasley was born on July 7, 1914 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. He was married to May. He died on December 19, 2006 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

After success in his native Australia, vied with Lester Piggott Lester Piggott during the 1960s for the British jockey's championship.

Nicknamed Scobie after the successful Ballarat trainer, Jim Scobie, because of his love of horses as a child.
