Marcoz Gomez

Marcoz Gomez is a Brazilian director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work in independent cinema. With over 16 years of experience, he has directed more than 13 projects, including feature films, series, and short films, focusing on intimate and character-driven storytelling. He is the founder of Tower Filmes (ANCINE Registration 50159), a production company dedicated to original and independent audiovisual projects, primarily based in Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, Brazil. Gomez gained recognition with his debut feature film O Abajour (2009), considered the first Brazilian feature entirely shot using HDSLR cameras. The film received significant attention, including a ten-page feature in Filmmaker Magazine, as well as coverage in O Globo. It was later licensed for broadcast on Telecine, Canal Brasil, and AMC Television, and distributed on streaming platforms such as Prime Video, Vivo Play, NOW, and Looke. He is also the creator and director of FestCine Pedra Azul, an international film festival held annually in the mountainous region of Espírito Santo. Now in its eighth edition, the festival has honored notable Brazilian actors including Stênio Garcia, Tuna Dwek, Paulo Betti, Malu Mader, Marcos Caruso, Daniel Dantas, and Jackson Antunes. Throughout his career, Gomez has received more than 50 nominations and awards at film festivals in Brazil and internationally. His work is marked by a strong focus on human relationships, often exploring themes of memory, silence, and emotional complexity.
