Jason Shaw(II)

Jason Shaw aka Audionautix was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and grew up listening to all sorts of music on the backseat of his parents car while on Sunday drives. His dad would flip the radio from rock to country to classical. He seemed to love all kinds of music, and he infected Jason with that too!

Jason has been composing music since he picked up the guitar at 13, but his tracks were only ever heard by his family and a few of his friends. When he realized he could post mp3's of his music to the Internet, he saw a way to share his creativity with others by setting it free.

Jason also saw people getting into trouble for using copyrighted music on YouTube and elsewhere. It just seemed to be the thing to do to allow him to keep creating music, which is his passion. As his website Audionautix grew it became too expensive for him to maintain as a hobby. His goal in making money, is to simply cover the cost of hosting the traffic, through donations which allow him to keep the site up and running.

With the exception of guest composers, Jason creates all of the music on Audionautix, mostly from scratch. He plays multiple instruments, but he also uses sound samples, loops, drum machines, software synths, and whatever else is he can get his hands on. He can read music but mostly composes by ear.

Some of the pieces on Audionautix are background music to talk over, while some are full blown pieces suitable to sit and listen to. He loves sharing his music with you, and hopes it helps people in some small way to complete a project, or brighten their day.

For the technically minded, he uses Sonar exclusively for recording and composing. Some stuff was mixed on a mixing board, some was recorded and mixed all inside the computer.
