- Australian-born film critic well-known in the UK for his many radio programs about the cinema (e.g., "Movie-Go-Round") and for his contributions to newspapers and film magazines. He was a notable and prolific writer for "Films And Filming" magazine for more than 25 years and also wrote several books on the cinema. He died in 2000 at the age of 81.
- He began his career in radio in Australia when he was still in his teens. He and his wife, Joyce, arrived in England in 1949 and - apart from a brief period in the 1950s when he worked in radio in the Netherlands - they stayed there.
