Biography

Christos S. Volikakis is an independent filmmaker, editor, and executive producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production from San Francisco State University in 1996. On October 19, 1997, he premiered his debut student documentary, "Babushka," which chronicles the life of Lida Stelmashenko from Nazi labor camps to her eventual resettlement in Northern California. Originally captured on 16mm film with an hour-and-a-half runtime, the project was carefully edited down to 30 minutes to accommodate theatrical and film festival distribution requirements of the era. Following his debut, Christos expanded his industry footprint by collaborating on a diverse range of studio and independent projects. He began his career on major studio sets, serving as a production assistant on the Disney feature film Bigger and Better Blondes (1927) (2001). Over the years, his role evolved into high-level production management, leading to work as an executive producer on several independent feature films in development. Remaining deeply rooted in the San Francisco filmmaking community, Christos operates as an independent artist and entrepreneur across multiple creative disciplines. In addition to supporting emerging local talent and independent creators, his focus includes developing a new slate of personal directorial projects. To continuously refine his directorial eye and editing precision, he also pursues the study of acting, gaining a deeper, holistic understanding of performance to better elevate his collaborative work behind the camera.
