Robert Michael Bodrogi

Biography

Robert Michael Bodrogi

Mini bio

  • The cinematography life came to me in my 20's. Late according to some. I guess I had other things to do first.

My path to the arts started with carrying photography gear. A lot of gear. Camera and lighting bags filled with the tools of the trade I had yet to use. Strobes. Stands. Tripods. Some with names destined to become part of my lexicon. Appleboxes. Gaffers tape. Speedrail. Back in the day carrying all this was called 'photo assisting'. I kept quiet and learned. Some of the best editorial, commercial, and architectural still photographers in NY - I refer to them as my 'chosen fathers' - who took me under their wing. I found a passion in imaging that I hadn't felt before. And then filmmaking found me. Quite by accident, actually. Something about the way one image influences the way I feel about another image mesmerized me. I had watched movies, of course. But now the curtain was lifted, and a world opened up. I had found that mountain that I must summit. A direction in life.

30 years later, I'm still chasing the perfect image, the perfect visual structure, and amazing stories in both cinematography and still photography.

I have worked with presidents, have nationally published portraiture, I've partied with the Korean Olympic track team, and I've trained with the Soviet Olympic Fencing team. I created a son, wrote a book, still ride motorcycles, and a good workout gets my head straight.

My life is, and has been, filled with inspiration, creativity, and laughter. And for that I am thankful.
