Early in the 2016 offseason, the Titans acquired running back DeMarco Murray in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The 6-foot-1- inch, 220-pounder brings stability and veteran leadership to the Titans' running back corps. A three-time Pro Bowler, Murray is known for his physical, downhill running style, but he is also a skilled pass catcher out of the backfield. He started all 16 games at running back in his first season with the Titans, and led the AFC and ranked third in the NFL with 1,287 rushing yards. The University of Oklahoma product enjoyed a stellar 2014, capturing the NFL's rushing title and earning NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors. A former third-round draft choice of Dallas in 2011, Murray spent his first four seasons with the Cowboys before joining the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2015 campaign.

As a rookie in 2011, Murray rushed for a Dallas Cowboys franchise record 253 yards against St. Louis (10/23/11), the ninth-highest single game total in NFL history and the second-most by a rookie back.
In 2016, Murray was named to his third career Pro Bowl after ranking third in the NFL with 1,287 rushing yards and finishing fourth in the NFL with 1,664 yards from scrimmage.
Murray set an NFL record by rushing for 100-plus yards in each of the Cowboys first eight games in 2014, breaking Hall of Famer Jim Brown's previous record of six-consecutive games to start a season set in 1958.
