Biography

Erin Naifeh is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and artist. A member of the International Cinematographers Guild since 2012, Naifeh's passion for filmmaking began much earlier. In 2002, as a teenager in Tennessee, she started making short films with her family and friends on weekends. Between 2007 and 2009, she created a new role at her high school as Video Yearbook Director, producing short film videos of student life and community events including a video yearbook and public service pieces like Prom Promise, which advocated against drinking and driving.

She later moved to Nashville to study filmmaking and, after working on dozens of music videos, landed her first union job on ABC's Nashville. She relocated to Los Angeles soon after, building a successful 15-year career as a 1st Assistant Camera on over 25 feature films and 14 television shows. In addition to her work as a 1st AC, Naifeh has also worked as a 2nd Unit Director of Photography on Holland and Nobody Wants This.

She also served as the Director of Photography on the award-winning feature film Anchorage, which screened at 17 international festivals, winning 11 awards and receiving 10 nominations. Her cinematography on the film was praised by The Guardian and Roman Coppola for its powerful visual atmosphere.

Naifeh began directing through music videos, several of which have been recognized by Billboard and Forbes for their distinct visual style and narrative tone. Outside of film, she is also a fine art and self-portrait photographer whose work often explores political themes. Using photo manipulation and compositing techniques, she creates surreal, constructed worlds that challenge traditional structures of viewership and imagine new possibilities for perception and identity.
