Biography

Ryan Katzenbach

Mini bio

  • Ryan Katzenbach is an American film writer, director and producer. His career in the entertainment industry began at 22 when he optioned a project to Twentieth Century Fox's newly minted FX cable network. While the project went into turnaround several years later, he enjoyed another deal with Sony Television Pictures for a film about the 1974 "Amityville Horror" murders. The project was eventually dropped by Sony, at which time Ryan decided to make the film independently as a docudrama. This independent project was eventually released in installments between 2011 and 2014, and in 2014 the REELZ Channel picked the project up and aired it for three years.

The success of Amityville prompted REELZ to greenlight Katzenbach's next project, another docudrama, "TITANIC: Sinking The Myths." The film, shot in both a 2-hour version and 4-hour "directors cut" (Reelz will begin airing the extended cut in 2018), was another ratings success for the network. As of August 2018, Ryan is now engaged in his third picture deal with a network which commences principal photography in January 2019.

In addition, Ryan is currently shooting a true-crime-expose series on the 2010 homicide of Hollywood-power-publicist Ronni Chasen. The series explores the murder, while focusing on the investigation conducted by the Beverly Hills Police Department that resulted in the case being closed when it was determined that a transient man, in a random-robbery-gone-bad killed Chasen.

Ryan's company, KatcoMedia, along with his producing partners Al Hayes and Keith J. Knee of Spartan Media Partners, currently have a half-dozen new projects that they're actively working on, including several book adaptations.
