Devon wrote his first screenplay by necessity. He had taken a quarter off from college and needed to prove to his parents that he was not wasting his life. The screenplay was a coming of age vampire story set in Prague (Czech Republic) where his parents were living. He wrote the story intending to film it with friends on location with no budget. Things did not work out as he had planned.

Eight screenplays and a master's degree in business later, he wrote _Un-Human (2010)_qv with the goal of making it his directorial debut. Using a combination of extra student loans, credit cards, and personal savings, Devon put together the financing for the film. He took time off from his day job to focus solely on the filming for two weeks.

Devon hired a former friend as the first film editor. After five weeks with nothing to show, a change was needed. Devon did two things. First he contacted his DP Martin Vavra about editing the footage. Martin agreed and is the only credited editor on the film. Second, Devon edited a rough cut (not a director's cut) using a free trial version of Corel. He submitted the cut to several festivals, being turned down to almost all, but winning an award at one.

For his second film, Devon choose a theme and film 180 degree different than the detective story of the _Un-Human(2010)_qv script. It is a coming of age country musical due to film in summer 2011.
