Biography

Frederic Winkler (b. Houston, TX, USA) is a first-generation American, born to a Swiss draftsman and a Vietnamese homemaker, and raised in the Texas heat. He is an actor, producer, writer, and founder of the independent production company, INSUFFICIENT FUNDS. Frederic is currently based in New York City and straddles both mainstream and independent spaces evidenced by his work in performance featured on Disney+, ABC, NBC, as well as in the Los Angeles Film Festival, Festival du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand, Festival du Film Court D'Argues Vives, Kyiv International Short Film Festival, and others.

As a producer, his collaborative work has been presented at the Locarno Film Festival, El Gouna Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, FID Marseille, American Film Festival - US in Progress, Cucalorus Film Festival, Tallgrass Film Festival, Mammoth Lakes Film Festival, Cindependent Film Festival and with the American Philosophical Association. Frederic maintains his focus on pushing the boundaries of film and performance, and is currently working on projects in virtual reality, simulcast stage plays, and experimental narrative film work.
