Biography

Rod Carlson, born Rodney Douglas Carlson, was raised in the small town of Gretna, Nebraska. In high school, he found a home in choir and drama gaining an appreciation for all aspects of theatre under the expert tutelage of renowned director and teacher, Carole Carraher. Carlson also performed for Gretna Community Theatre and at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he studied business and acting. After spending some time in the United States Air Force, Rod made his splash in Utah's community theatre scene where he showed great versatility as a character actor playing roles such as Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady", Richard Hannay in "The 39 Steps", and Nathan Detroit in "Guys and Dolls". Other credits include Rooster in "Annie", Marcellus Washburn in "The Music Man", and the Sergeant of Police in "The Pirates of Penzance". His independent film work launched in 2008 taking part in several award winning films. Rodney also has uncredited roles in the film The Core (2003) and TV movie Dear Dumb Diary (2013).
