Biography

John Raymonds

Biography

  • John Raymonds has a diverse background: Graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a BS in Electrical Engineering he created the Shareware hit "The Dungeon of Doom" for the Macintosh platform, before switching gears into the family rigid plastic packaging business. He partnered with First Atlantic Capital in 2004 to grow it from the then $90M US turn over to over $300M US in just four short years. In 2008 he diversified his interests in the US while maintaining a packaging business in Europe. Sitting on the other side of the PE table has taken many forms where the common theme has been both promoting a better world and a return to his first love of the hardware that has evolved into the digital arts of today.

As a Spirit of Innovation member at the XPrize Foundation, he has seeded the development of an XPrize in the education sector. As part of Raymonds Capital, LLC, he has become the lead investor for the re-launch of Reading Rainbow, serving the digital generation as an app for the iPad and beyond. The most active investment to date, and for the long term ahead, is the partnership founded with Bron Studios. Though the art of film made the initial link to the business, the passion has since become the connection to the stories within the scripts, of which all success rests on.
