Marí Alessandrini, originally from Patagonia, Argentina, grew up between mountains and steppe, in a postcolonial and South American Wild West environment - a landscape that shaped her and continues to inspire her deeply. Before turning to cinema, she explored photography, performing arts, and contemporary circus across the Americas - experiences that have nourished her physical and poetic approach to filmmaking.
A graduate in Film Direction and Visual Arts from the Geneva University of Art and Design, she was selected by the Cinéfondation of the Cannes Film Festival with her debut feature "Zahorí", notably awarded the Pardo "The Films After Tomorrow" at the Locarno Film Festival and the Best First Film at the India International Film Festival, among other prizes.
She is developing two new features movies "Federica" and "Terre de Feu", pursuing her exploration of identity, colonialism, and the shifting relationship between nature and culture.
