- Nolan Schmidt was born to John and Deborah Schmidt in Seguin, Texas. When he was growing up, he was inspired by some of his favorite films to start filmmaking. He began his film career with his amateur horror short, "Reaper Island," in 2008, and got his first award in 2009 for his film, "That's My Pizza!" He continues to make films to this day with his small film company, NHS Films.

- As of March 2013, Schmidt is a member of the Libertarian Party. He was a supporter of the Republican Party from 2000 to 2004, and the Democratic Party from 2004 to 2013. After taking the World's Smallest Political Quiz and saw that it put him as a Hard-Core Libertarian, he decided to join the Libertarian Party.
- Schmidt grew up with Asperger's Syndrome, which is a part of the Autism Spectrum Disorder, and was an element put in his 2012 short, Innocent Dreams.
- Schmidt was inspired to become a filmmaker after watching the works of Quentin Tarantino.
